Performance-based funding for the public university sector
The report on the proposed performance measures the government should use to allocate growth funding for each public university has been released. It recommends four performance measures be introduced – the universities are reviewing the measures and will discuss them further with the government.
Following is the publicly available data on the performance of the public universities on proxies for the first three of the four measures.
Note that the data proposed for the measures is not currently publicly available (eg the employment outcomes measure is proposed to be contextualised for local employment rates using linear progression, the measure for student satisfaction with teacher quality is proposed to be contextualised by study area, and the publicly available attrition rate data is from 2016 whereas the measure proposed in the report is for 2018 data ). The fourth proposed measure (participation rates for Indigenous, low SES and regional domestic bachelor students) incorporates multiple variables and sector wide averages across these variables. I have left that for others to pull together.
